Festival brings array of sports to Net Generation kids

The Net Generation Youth Sports Festival at Serrania Charter Elementary School on Saturday, May 19 was a collaboration between the Southern California Tennis Association, TGA Premier Sports, Metamorphisuqe Cheer, and Friends of Serrania. Over 200 kids and parents participated in tennis, golf, cheer, lacrosse, volleyball, and ultimate Frisbee station activities facilitated by TGA coaches on the Serrania campus in Woodland Hills.

Los Angeles Unified School District Board Vice President Nick Melvoin stopped by to participate in the activities and challenge SCTA/TGA’s very own Amy Feder to a red ball tennis match on the “Net Generation 36’ Stadium Court”!

In addition to receiving a USTA Net Generation PE tennis grant this school year, Serrania’s principal Luis Alvarado was presented at the festival with playground equipment from Play It Forward, a local non-profit that supports play and PE in schools with sports equipment grants.

Young participants were rewarded for completing each sports station activity with prizes. Two lucky athletes won a week each of SCTA/TGA’s Premier Tennis Summer Camp in the San Fernando Valley.

The national TGA Premier Sports programs are impacting youth nationwide through their after-school enrichment programs that combine learning lifetime sports with academics and life skills. The Southern California Tennis Association owns and manages TGA Premier Tennis of the San Fernando Valley.

TGA Premier Tennis programs in Los Angeles, the Conejo Valley and the Beach Cities offer tennis, golf, lacrosse, flag football, floor hockey, ultimate and cheer through after school enrichment programs and seasonal camps.
