OC Breakers Face San Diego Aviators for WTT Championship

It will be an all-Southern California affair as the Orange County Breakers and the San Diego Aviators will travel some 3,000 miles for the right to lift the King Trophy at the Mylan WTT Finals presented by Citi at 4 p.m. ET on Friday, Aug. 26, at Forest Hills Stadium in Forest Hills, N.Y.

Although San Diego and Orange County finished the regular season with identical 8-4 records, San Diego will be the home team in the Finals based on tiebreaking procedures. Since the teams split their 4-match regular season series, the next tiebreaker is most games won in head-to-head meetings and San Diego leads that category 82-77. As the home team, San Diego will set the order of play.

In the final match of the regular season, the Breakers fells to the Washington Kastles, 25-19 as the Kastles were led by world top 10 player Nick Kyrgios, playing in his only match of the year.

With the championship match already clinched for San Diego, as well, they also fell in their regular season finale to the Philadelphia Freedom, 25-9.

The Aviators are led by singles players Shelby Rogers and Nick Monroe, and doubles players Darija Jurak and Raven Klaasen.
