Barnes Tennis Center Had a Blast in 2015

Busy is the best word to describe the activities at Barnes Tennis Center in 2015. They serve a big part of the San Diego area junior tennis community and do an outstanding job in many areas. So it is no surprise that Youth Tennis San Diego was awarded the USTA Organization Member of the Year Award for 2015. Highlights are listed below.

  • Held 5 special events for After School Tennis programs giving thousands of kids an opportunity to learn the game of tennis.
  • Home to over 20 Novice, Satellite and Open tournaments.
  • Had 12 new Barnes teams that participated in USTA Junior Team Tennis.
  • Expanded ‘Junior Aces’ Tennis & Education program for children ages 3-5 five days a week.
  • Added 4 new elementary and 2 middle schools in After School Tennis.Barnes Story 3
  • Hosted Boys and Girls CIF Team and Individual Championships.
  • Provided 4 free Elementary School field trips to BTC for a full day of tennis.
  • Honored Military Families at the Seventh Annual Barnes Bash Celebration.
  • Hosted 400 of the nation’s best at the USTA Girls’ 16s & 18s National Championships.
  • Provided 200 tickets to juniors to watch the San Diego Aviators matches, through a generous donation from the Aviators.
  • Hosted 16 teams from across the country to participate in World Team Tennis with founder by Billie Jean King.
  • Welcomed hundreds of children who participated in summer camps.
