Junior Davis/Fed Cup Triumphs

Kayla Day, who works with Mike Gennette, Adam Peterson, Leo Azevedo and Aaron Webster, was a member of the successful US Junior Fed Cup team that triumphed in the spring qualifying tournament. Brandon Nakashima, who is coached by Angel Lopez, and Govind Nanda, who works with Vahe Assadourian,  were formidable as the US won the North/Central American Qualifying of the International Tennis Federation World Junior Tennis Boys’ Competition.

Girls’ National Junior Team

Kelly Chen, who is coached by Debbie Shaffer, and Claire Liu, who works with Mike Gennette, Adam Peterson and Leo Azevedo, were named to the Girls’ National Junior Team. Carson Branstine, coached by Kathy Rinaldi, and Kayla Day earned places on the team by played through a qualifying competition. Branstine and Chen trained at the USTA Girls’ Player Development Match Play Camp in Boca Raton, Florida, in mid-May.

The following players and their coaches participated in a Boys’ Player Development Camp at the USTA Training Center-West in Carson in early May: Jacob Bullard (Gerald Mathews), Stefan Dostanic (Chris Lewis), Govind Nanda (Vahe Assadourian) and Harry Yang (Darren Richer). Roscoe Bellamy (Bobby Berger) took part in a similar camp that was held at the USTA facility in Boca Raton, Florida.

World Team Cup

David Wagner and Greg Hasterok were among the US representatives on the BNP Paribas World Team Cup.  The event, the International Tennis Federation’s top wheelchair competition, was held at the Ali Bey Resort Manavgat in Antalya, Turkey at the end of May.
