How Is The SCTA Growing The Tennis Pipeline In 2015?

Rallying With The Executive Director

Bruce HuntThe SCTA staff is focused on the sixty-six largest metropolitan areas in SoCal and we are making a list of where we have tennis programs and where we don’t.  Where we don’t have tennis programs, we want to find USTA member organizations and community tennis facilities that want programming.  Where tennis programs exist, we want to help grow those programs or maintain status quo at the least.

What Kind Of Tennis Programs Are We Talking About?

  • We want to expand our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) outreach efforts,
  • Increase USTA Adult League players,
  • Grow adult and senior tournaments in the NTRP, Open and Wheelchair divisions,
  • Put Tennis On Campus (TOC) at every community college, four-year college and university,
  • Establish advocacy groups in every community that has public tennis courts or wants public tennis courts,
  • Offer more summer and permanent sites for LA84 Foundation/National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) youth programs,
  • Launch After-School tennis on elementary and middle school playgrounds and courts,
  • Encourage more play by high school students,
  • Encourage more local youth tournaments from Level 7 (Novice), Level 6 (Satellite), and Levels 5 and 4 (Open),
  • Provide more local Junior Team Tennis leagues, and
  • Promote Red-Orange-Green Ball tennis for new players of all ages.

What Does This Mean For Your Facility?

We hope it means that you and your staff will find your courts full and the pro shop busy.  If we do our jobs right, you will have more people wanting to play tennis at your site.  Will you be ready?  Give me a call, (310) 208-3838 Ext. 240, or send me an email, bhunt@scta.usta.com if you would like your SCTA Tennis Service Representative to stop by to talk about being prepared for more customers from the tennis pipeline.
