Community Development Workshops – Sign Up Now

Calling all tennis enthusiasts.  Join members of the tennis community for the two-day workshop that will take place, in mid-October. The first activity will be on-court at California State University Los Angeles on Saturday, October 15th. It will be an ideal chance for anyone working with young or beginning players to add to their teaching techniques. Topics that will be covered include learning large group management practices, progressions for all strokes, dynamic stretches, competitive scoring formats, how to effectively and appropriately use the modified tennis equipment and much more. In addition to the educational coaching resources that will be offered in the on-court presentation, the six online courses, (which are free), designed to further coaching skills, will also be discussed. Once the online courses and the on-court workshop are completed, a 10 and Under Coaching Certificate will be awarded. This innovative program has been created in conjunction with the USTA, PTR, USPTA, and the USOC. Participants in the program also earn USPTA Continuing Education credits.

On Sunday, October 16th, classroom sessions will take place at the LA84 Foundation in Los Angeles. This is a fantastic opportunity to network with other tennis advocates and learn about topics such as developing grassroots players for competitive tennis, player development plans, fundraising, etc.  There will be a variety of speakers including Peter Smith, the USC Men’s Tennis head coach;  Greg and Dan Gonzalez of the Pancho Gonzalez Foundation, and Miguel Garcia from the USTA Foundation. After all speakers finish, there will an open discussion. There will also be an opportunity to ask individuals from each Southern California Tennis Association department – such as Junior Competition, Marketing, Adult Competition and Community Tennis – questions.

Lunch will be provided and those attending will have a chance to win some awesome raffle prizes. The workshops are perfect for anyone looking to help grow tennis in their community. Don’t miss out on this wonderful networking and business growing opportunity.
