The program continued to grow with over 1200 registrations at 40 schools in the 2017-2018 school year!

Highlights from the school year include:

  • 1st 10U Orange Ball team comprised of students from multiple TGA SFV schools competed in the USTA Junior Team Tennis spring season
  • USTA Diversity and Inclusion grant awarded to the TGA SFV management team to facilitate after school tennis enrichment for grades K-8 and start a high school tennis team program at Valley Alternative School in Van Nuys.
  • Adaptive tennis classes introduced at the Lull School in Encino to work with students physically and cognitively challenged
  • TGA SFV Head Coach Will Mauriz awarded 2017 TGA Coach of the Year
  • Net Generation – TGA Youth Sports Festival at Serrania Charter School
  • Net Generation PE Grants awarded to TGA SFV schools

It’s a valuable opportunity for high school players considering college tennis. Camp highlights include:

  • 1, 2 or 3 day options
  • 12 hours of on court collegiate style drills, fitness and match play for UTR ratings
  • Exclusively taught by college coaches and train in the same environment and intensity as a college player
  • Get exposure and network with college coaches to be recruited

The Youth Progression is growing at a steady rate and we are so happy to have players wanting to play more Orange Ball and Green Ball tournaments.

There are always Orange Ball and Green Ball tournaments every weekend which is a one day round robin of play.

Early Development Camp

We have upcoming Orange Ball Early Development Camps at Braemar Country Club on the following dates:

  • Sunday, September 24
  • Sunday, October 15
  • Sunday November 19

The Camps are for players ages 7-10 years old. All camps are from 12pm to 4pm. We teach USTA based curriculum throughout the 3 Camp series. We have National as well as local coaches instructing the Camps. The players will learn specific tactics, agility and participate in match play.

This is a great way to earn your stars towards your Youth Progression, all you have to do is participate in all 3 Camps and you will earn 250 points which is 5 stars. It’s time to register for summer tennis camp! Summer Tennis Camp registration is now open for locations in Tarzana, Northridge, and Studio City. Register before May 31 and receive a FREE youth racquet!

Premier Tennis camps are open to youth ages 4-12, and all equipment is provided. Activities include Fit & Fun warm-ups, tennis stroke fundamentals, game and point play, scoring and rules, STEAM activities, weekly themes, and Friday Junior Team Tennis play and prizes.

Camps are overseen by certified TGA coaches, with a low coach-to-camper ratio to allow all players a chance to learn essential skills from talented mentors.

TGACampers may register at playtga.com/sfvtennis for either full weeks or individual days, June 12 thru August 11. There a sibling discount available, and parents will appreciate convenient camper drop-off and pick-up.

Under the guidance of the Academy coaching director Joel Figueras, talented local players will learn from some of the world’s finest instructors, direct from the legendary champion’s own training facility in Mallorca, Spain.

These clinics are valuable for players and parents alike, with both on- and off-court training, and a presentation about the Rafa Nadal Academy. Morning sessions are scheduled for Boys and Girls ages 12U and 14U, with afternoon sessions to accommodate 16U and 18U players.

Mr. Figueras has previously coached American up and comers including Tommy Paul, Taylor Fritz, and Stefan Koslov, and currently oversees all aspects of technical, tactical, physical, and mental training programs at the Nadal Academy.

There will be four sessions over two days:

Saturday, April 29 (view flyer here) at The Jack Kramer Club, Rolling Hills Estates. Begins at 9:45am.

Please mark your calendars for this new day.

Free tennis clinics for adults and juniors of all levels will be taught by over 60 USPTA teaching pros. Over 1,000 residents can enjoy fun tennis, exhibition matches, prizes, t-shirts, entertainment and more. This year, baseball commentating legend Dick Enberg is being honored with the Ben Press Award for Lifetime Achievement by the San Diego District Tennis Association.

Also, event organizers are partnering with “Tennis Thanks the Troops” and ThanksUSA to raise money through a silent auction. Donations will go to educational scholarships for San Diego-based military families. Since 2012, Tennis Fest has raised over $20,000 for the cause.
Registration for this free event is preferred but not mandatory. This community celebration will give the first 800 people who register a complimentary t-shirt and goodie bag.

TGA Tennis is pleased to partner with the Children’s Arts Institute (CAI), an arts program for youngsters.
